As I prepare for my Peaceful Path retreat next weekend, I thought this morning about sharing our thoughts and feelings with others. No one wants to listen to a chronic complainer who constantly talks about their personal problems. Yet, to cover up our vulnerbilities is not true strength. Sharing our own sad feelings is not the same as being a weakling.
Sharing brings us closer to other people. It creates a meeting between you and another that brings you closer. It takes courage and true strength to risk revealing your feelings to other people. We are social beings who need to live in a loving, peaceful community where there is support when we need it.
Will you listen closely today to another with compassion and non-judgment? If so, you will be giving such a wonderful gift to a friend. By listening, you assist another to release fears and feelings, so they may be open to a new way of thinking and being…a way of loving themselves and forgiving others.
Peace and love,
Jane
