Vernal Equinox

springtime

rest is over

new beginnings

Just saying the word “spring” warms my heart! It’s still cold here in Meaford,-2C with a strong north wind…brrr! Today, March 19th and 20th, 2024 brings us the Vernal/Spring Equinox. It is the time when the sun crosses the plane of the earth’s equator, making day and night approximately equal length all over the earth. It means our days will be warming and our earth will soon be ready for planting here in the Northern Hemisphere. And our season of Spring begins!

Today is a good time to give thanks for the past winter season with its season of quiet hibernation, a time of reflection, a time for us to see wonder of snowflakes, each unique and beautiful. Together they provided the earth’s blanket. Thank you for the blessings of winter.

Now, we begin to feel our energies stirring and rising with our hope of warmer days, the return of birds, the birthing of animals, the spring rains, the green shoots pushing through the wet earth…quite a wondrous and magical event is our springtime. A few birds were singing this morning here in Meaford even as it is snowing! They know it’s an exciting time.

We all need this nourishment of spring birthing. I want to soak it up! The world is so upside down with war, separation, grief and fear. But thankfully, nature reveals to us a different picture with each of its seasons. I especially love how spring shows us new life after a cold winter. It lifts our hopes! We can plant new seeds, find new ways of being and evolving in a peaceful way. We need these loving energies of spring to heal through forgiveness and to return to love.

The Spring Equinox reveals to us the balance of night and day. What a reminder to create balance in our lives! When we create an holistic balance of body-mind-spirit, light flows into our heart and it opens to bloom with the energies of springtime. We move into harmony with nature…

Awaken! Lets step into the spring! How can we create more balance and harmony in our lives? What ‘newness’ can you create for yourself and others to lift your energies, to birth a new idea, to enjoy the freshness of spring? This is the time to awaken our creative consciousness!

cluster of blossoms

call to the awakening

new birth peeks out

Spring blessings and Happy Spring Equinox! May your day be full of love and joy!

Slide1

I am a baby boomer and was a teenager in the 1960’s, a decade of tremendous social upheaval, war and change!  Baby boomers know all about life’s rapid changes.  We endured it and it rocked many of us to our core!! But we learned to adapt and create changes that our parents could not stop in spite of their protests.  Civil rights activists took to the streets. Drugs became visible. The Beatles had long hair!!  Women took the pill and family life changed. The cold war scared us to bits!

At the same time, there was a movement, a lifting of heart consciousness that called for peace, for opening our minds and hearts to see that we are all connected, for respecting diversity and for caring for one another and our planet.  This shift in consciousness is still evolving and it is affecting our views on aging. It may be a return to the role of an elder that was held in many indigenous cultures or take a new form or role for elders.

It may be that baby boomers are in better health and living longer but many of us are realizing that life in our 60’s and older can be an amazing time.  A time where we can have the freedoms we desired for so many years.  A time to really open our hearts wide and see the beauty that life offers all of us…young and old.

Elders/seniors have an opportunity to bring a new wave of conscious aging into their elder years. That opportunity is so uplifting and gives us so much purpose!  Many of us still play our 60’s music, (rock and roll), call for social change and justice, and desire to create more peace in our hearts and in the world.  We can stay active in our communities. Some of us want quiet, read, write poetry, sit by the water, paint, have conversations with family and friends, walk the dog.  Whatever way I choose to be…I can live each day from my heart.  I know this enriches my life and my family’s life. Perhaps the ‘hippie’ way, freedom, peace and love, rings on…

I love this message, I posted on Facebook this morning.  I received it from a meditation, and it is from my book  “In Silence, Discovering Self through Meditation
“It is time to feed your Soul with love and healing
Kindness from within

– peaceful moments of sharing
– peaceful moments of listening
– peaceful moments of being”

Whether you are young or adult or elder, it is important to take time to nurture your self each day. This helps our heart to stay open, to forgive and to nurture others. Let’s flow together in harmony and love.

We are all on this journey together…why would we choose any other way than the ‘way of our heart’?

The Wave, Artist Francene Hart http://www.francenehart.com

My tip today is one you have probably heard many times…’take one step at a time’.  But I am going to add something very important to these words.  ‘Take one step at a time but don’t worry about the outcome.’ But I can hear you thinking “how can I not think of the outcome?’   The answer to your question is that life experiences flow forward and then seem to flow backwards and then flows further ahead and then flows backwards.  There is a natural rhythm in the universe always flowing and a natural pulse that is always beating.

As you take one step at a time, you are not resisting this rhythm that moves like a wave with an ebb and flow.  As you take one step at a time, you are not rushing to make things happen but allow the ‘wave’ to gently flow back to you revealing what you need to see.  Then you can make another step forward and as you learn to move more fully with the rhythm of the universe, your life unfolds with more ease. You learn to flow and to be guided forward by our natural source.

But there is another ingredient to being able to be guided.  You need to begin to trust that each step has purpose and contains the wisdom you need to become more aware of who we are.  With trusting that your life is important and unique and what you think, do or say is part of this whole universal rhythm, you begin  flowing with it and something wonderful happens. Your heart begins to open as you trust because you are less fearful.  You drop your fear of the future and focus on how you are loving yourself and others.

Your steps become loving steps.  Love begins to ‘flow’ back to us in so many ways.  Something else happens too.  You begin to see the beauty around you and your shadows (fears) in your life begin to fade. You begin to transform with each flowing step.

Now you may be looking out into the world, your physical world and see many shadows in it.  But at the same time you can now see beauty in other people, animals, nature who are loving you as your heart awakens.

So for today, take a step forward in whatever way brings more love or peace to you.  You may need to rest, to play, to study, to work, to assist a friend, to be in nature and soak up its beauty.  You change everyday but this change can be more positive if you release your resistance to change…allow yourself be led and develop a new awareness…allow yourself to flow. Ride the ‘wave’.

Allow your consciousness to awaken, to let go of what no longer works for you and move into a new way step by step.  See the beauty.  It is the first step of Self Mastery.

Peacefully, Jane

As we move into higher vibrations or ‘love energy’, everyday we have the opportunity to reinvent ourselves in some new way.  We know if we keep doing the same old thing, nothing in our lives changes and we feel stuck and frustrated.  But if we have the courage and spirit to try something new by shedding our fears of failure, we find ourselves exploring and experiencing something that may invigorate our mind, body and soul.  We can reinvent different parts of our self – our creative self, our physical self, our musical self, our mental self and our emotional self or any part that is stopping you from revealing who you truly are.  In this way, our consciousness awakens and our lives become vibrant, exciting and even mystical as new events and experiences unfold.

Exploring all the different parts of our life keeps us active, mindful and aware of our likes and dislikes.  Think about what you would like to reinvent…take time in meditation to reflect, contemplate and envision a new part of you.  Now hold that vision.   How does this new vision feel in your heart?  If it feels wonderful, then begin to take action steps to make creative, conscious changes to have this vision unfold.  The universe supports our new visions that move us into more happiness.  While you are taking new steps, allow yourself to flow rather than trying to plan every detail.  Allow new ideas to flow through you.  Be alert to new people and opportunities that are presented to you.

As we make changes in various areas of our lives, we let go of our old fears that hold us back.  We begin to reveal our inner feelings and begin to see and experience our whole being.  When this happens, it is a ‘wow’ moment!  There is a new found freedom for us as our health improves, our heart opens, our mind has clarity and our soul feels a connection with spirit and all beings.

Take the opportunity to reinvent a part of you each day.  Maybe you are in need of a pampering day, a day of total relaxation.  Maybe you are in a need of a day that has some excitement.  Whatever is right for you, in the present moment, move forward with new hopes, new dreams and new ways.  Perhaps, you want more education, training and learning.  Whatever you need, put yourself out there to explore and create what you desire.

Remember to be gentle with yourself as you are with others.  This act of reinvention of self is not about self-criticism but self-love and renewal.  Perhaps, all you needs is to give yourself a hug, a smile, a walk in nature.  All of these things renew our soul and awaken our consciousness.  Have fun with whatever reinvention is right for you to find a ‘peaceful’ way that brings you joy.  You will be more focused, motivated and energized. Most of all have fun and enjoy what you love to do.

Peacefully, Jane
